Santa Lucia Geography
Santa Lucía is located at the north coast of the central-east area of Cuba. Its sands are bathed in the North Atlantic Ocean, specifically at the Old Bahamas Channel. It limits to the east by Las Tunas province, to the west by Ciego de Ávila province and to the south by the Camaguey plains, province in which the Santa Lucía beach is found. Santa Lucía is some 650 kilometres from Havana and 110 kilometres from its provincial capital city, in the most eastern side of the north coast.
The Santa Lucía beaches are spread throughout more than 20 kilometres; it owns the second longest coral barrier of the world, this turns its beaches into a kind of natural pool of 21 kilometres of length per 200 meters wide. This unique site goes through the west, reaching Varadero and safekeeping the Cuban northern keys (Sabinal, Romano, Guajaba, Coco, Guillermo and Santa María keys).
